To quote Mushu speaking to Mulan: “Who am I? Who am I?”

I’m a film and TV creative practitioner with extensive industry experience across production, development and acquisitions. I’ve worked in Sydney, London, and Dubai and am a reliable, enthusiastic individual with a can-do attitude who loves working in screen.

Currently I work in development, the script department on production and as a consultant for job-sharing and flexible working.

I’m also a person with a life outside of my screen career - such a thing is possible! For me, my work/life balance means being in nature, trying to stop my cat Wayra from shredding the couch, reading, writing and of course, going to the movies. I’m also passionate about environmental activism and believe in the power of ‘we the people.’

My Work

Consulting

Since 2022, I’ve consulted on flexible working in the film/TV industry in Australia, particularly on job-sharing.

My interest in this area began when I started to return to the industry after having a few years off due to ill health and I was unable to work the long hours demanded by the sector. That didn’t sound very accessible or inclusive to me, so I set about researching and raising awareness on the many benefits of job-sharing. I met with the UK organisation Share My Telly Job, our comrades working in this space, and Screen Australia.

In 2022 I consulted for a recruitment company and delivered a report on the potential for job-sharing in our industry.

In 2023, I reached out to Screen Well to work together to raise awareness on the topic. We were funded by Screen Australia to deliver an Australian-first job-sharing pilot program, on a Matchbox Pictures production. I co-authored a comprehensive report on our findings: “Breaking Down the Barriers to Job-Sharing.”

My speaking gigs on the subject include the Screen Vixens podcast, Crew ConCrew HQ webinar and at SXSW Sydney.

I currently consult for Screen Australia’s Gender Matters Taskforce on flexible production models.

Development

I utilise my editorial nous and well-articulated taste in my development work.

I’ve worked in complimentary fields such as acquisitions at UK sales agent and financier Bankside Films, and Australian public broadcaster the ABC, commissioning at UK broadcaster Channel 4, and programming at Channel 7.

This background, combined with my production experience (see below) affords me a holistic and market-facing approach to development. The aim of development, as I see it, is to work up projects which can make it to and through production, and land successfully in the market.

I have worked as a development consultant and in writer’s rooms for eOne, Wooden Horse, Northern Pictures, Flying Bark and Broadtalk as well as for independent writers. I assess material across a range of genres, platforms and formats including books, scripts, pitch decks, bibles and plays.

In June 2024 I was selected as a script editor in the Platform: Margins lab facilitated by For Film’s Sake. I worked with two award-winning playwrights to adapt their plays for the screen.

Production

My career began as a production coordinator. Which means I’ve done some crazy things in the name of showbiz.

I’ve worked on broadcast television shows, feature films and documentaries in London, Sydney and Dubai, on a range of budgets. Companies I’ve worked for in this capacity include Films and Casting Temple, Renegade Pictures, Brinkworth, Arrow, Met Film and Studio Lambert.

I now work as a script coordinator. Credits include:

100% WOLF - Prod Company: Flying Bark. Broadcaster: ABC ME. S2. 26 x 30’ - Script Producers: Fin Edquist & Tess Meyer
AUSTIN - Prod Company: Northern Pictures. Broadcaster: ABC. S1. 8 x 30’ - Creator/ Director: Darren Ashton
THE JURY PROJECT - Prod Company: Northern Pictures. Broadcaster: SBS. S1. 4 x 60’ - Directors: Tosca Looby & Ben Lawrence

LIFT (Ladies in Film & TV)

In 2014, while living in London, I started LIFT (Ladies in Film & TV) with Producer and friend Alexandra Blue.

LIFT is a free community of diverse and inclusive women who support each other to learn, grow and succeed in all areas of the film and television industry: development, finance, production, post production, sales, marketing and distribution. We currently have over 5800 members.

In our private Facebook group, our community circulates job opportunities, shares and discusses industry news, as well as seeks collaborators and support. We host regular networking events and seminars. So far our partners have included Sharp House, The Allbright, The Farm, Soul Cognition, BAFTA Albert, Loop and Bird Flight Films.

We have received funding from the UK’s Film & TV Charity.
